Gandhi had a capacity to attract the masses.

RSS and Hindu Mahasabha had contributed nothing in the freedom struggle. Rather they divided the people on the basis of religion, which resulted in the weakening of freedom struggle.

They were the real profounders of two nation theory. They killed Mahatma Gandhi not because Gandhi was a hypocrite and anti Hindu, but because of the reason that India was going to be secular nation after independence, which was not acceptable to RSS and Hindu Mahasabha.

Interest post. However, I feel you posted this for the wrong channel. It doesn’t stand fit for Politics and Society channel, because Gopal Godse’s interview is nothing but HIS PERSONAL OPINION ABOUT GANDHI AND HIS PHILOSOPHY. Maybe it would look nice in the Lifestyle channel under the tag - Human Psychology.

I’m still laughing at that ’Hey Ram’ bit. Did Gopal personally paid attention to Gandhi’s utterance or was it Nathuram who had kept a record of what or what not Gandhi uttered as he died??

Ridiculous! If we go by this part, then Gopal’s interview is as good as a fairy tale. :D

Hi good friends,

There were five attempts are reported to assasinate Ganghijee. Reason being Gandhijee’s concept was (is) secular India,which Hindu Maha Sabha chiefly its gurus had a acrid disgust for it. Godse’s gangs attempted to disrupt dialogues of seperate pakistan with Muhammed Ali Jinnah by doing away Ghandhijee. On fifth attempt they heineously, and to the nation’s unfortunate thing killed him point blank.

Did cruel gangster think about the aftermath? The ill news spread as a wild fire of the wood;the massive number of Maharashtrian Brahmins were taken into riots and many of them were killed. In some parts there was rumour that Gandhi was killed by a Muslim. Some of the Muslim populated villages and towns were taken abrubtly to dagger and sickle. If those Naduram Gdose and Co. would have some discernment of consequences as olive branch holders, they would not have killed their own Maharashtrian Brahmin Communities by killing one single soul ie Gandhijee

. Now is not clear that the root of terrorism was initiated in India by Hindu Maha Sabha, since Nathuram was a key link trained monts together to get the bull’s eye of his rivolver,to the very heart of Gandhijee.

Even ”Hey Ram” was uttered or not by Gandhi is debatable, Gandhijee never uttered a word towards Nathuram, ”Hey Fool,Stop it”.

Gandhijee is said to have mentioned that why this Nathuram is behind to kill him while he wished to live 125 years to serve the Nation.

The great blunders happen to our Nation’s noble people,its good properties because of hate policy. Still humble people always say,”Jai Hind”, and they strive for it silently.

Hindu Mahasabha sows the seeds of terrorism in India. Before the formation of RSS and Hindu Mahasabha Indian people were fighting against the British rulers unitedly. The communalism spread its tentacles after the formation of these two organizations.

Hey interesting point. It really tells us how wrong information can turn any good person into a murderer or terrorist like Godse, and Gopal.

From this we need to learn why telling the whole truth and nothing short of it is necessary for society to function well. Even Osama bin Laden thinks in such terms.

But amazing how proud he is even after spending so many years in prison. It also shows hoe much our prison system has failed in improving the criminals.

How can we endorse the murder of Mahatma Gandhi? Nathuram Godse and Gopal, were the good persons?

I am not saying that Gandhi was 100% perfect person and he had no weaknesses. But arousing the Indian masses for the freedom movement was his greatest contribution.

Gopal was feeling proud after spending so many years in the prison because he was an ideologically driven person.

It doesn’t mean that his ideology was good. Hitler was an ideologically driven person but his thought brought only destruction.

Not at all. My real agony is why this unnecessary human bloodsheds,loss of innocent lives,for not any of their own faults. Politicising the religion does not seem to me a good thing. This would be a political business.

Since our country is multi ethinic,with diverse cultural beauty, a nation with flora and fauna, does not move forward because of the political clout and corruption in raise. Let us pay homage to those really God fearing and patriotic leaders and their legacies being followed.

It seems that you hardly have read or hardly have tried to go into history to check the authenticity of what Mr. Gopal has said and you seem to be very happy with all that Mr. Gopal said.

He has said Gandhi was a hypocrite, could please site one incidence from history (with appropriate reference)that Gandhi was a hypocrite?

Also let me remove some darkness of the extent of igorance you have about Gandhi and history of India. Did you know that no one else but Nathuram Godse was trying to kill Gandhi for 14 years before he was killed? Do want a proof? Go to the Pune central jail and ask for the records you will find nathuram’s name who threw bomb on Gandhi and he survived. Please Mr.Pratyush, if you are educated enough go and find out history.

When Gandhi was assasinated two girl were around, they heard he spoke ’he ram’, I am forgetting the names but there other inmates who heard him speaking ’he ram’. Mr. Gopal or no other anti-social eliment type people were around who can say what he spoke. And those who were not around are saying he did not speak ’he ram’. Do you know Pratyush, what all a dying person can speak? Only those words which are constantly there in mouth and heart, no one can plan to speak something while he is shot. Narayan Desai, gandhi’s secretary mahadev desai’s son lived with gandhi all the years. when gandhi lived in sevagram ashram, maharashtra, his kutir and bathroom were 100 meters away from eachother. if gandhi had to go for bath, he had to walk 100 meters, even for that small period he uttered ram ram ram ram. narayan desai is a witness who is still alive says this. ram was not something that he learnt afterwards. when he was only 5-6 years old, gandhi’s maid rambha bai taught him to speak ram’s name to be protected from ghosts. ram was the first and last word that may come to his mouth. do you know, while in south africa when mir alam beated him so much,before being faint he uttered he ram and all this is recorded in history with full evidences.

i would strongly suggest you to read his autobiography, to go through the collected works of mahatma gandhi and so on before you opine anything.

It is strange you don’t know how cruel it is to write anything before going into the facts.

I live in ahmedabad, gujarat and invite you to come and visit gandhi ashram and see what and who was gandhi? please pratyush, read!

I can never support the murder of Mahatma Gandhi. I do agree that Gandhi was not a hypocrite. But I think Gandhi didn’t have clear vision about the free India. He didn’t have the unambiguous understanding about the path that India should follow after independence.

I am extremely sorry, if this post has hurt you.

But, here I would also like to mention that I haven’t altered the interview which Gopal gave to TIME magazine. I found it on some website and copied it here. So there is no point me being happy or sad. I am just providing facts. That’s all. Now it is up to the people to decide what is correct and what is not.

Now, regarding your doubts about my knowledge of history, I am sorry to say but I have read Gandhi’s autobiography. I don’t think I need to prove it to anybody.

Whether Gandhi was a hypocrite or not...

2 examples...

1)His basic agenda against the other groups who were trying to attain freedom by other ways is an example of that. The way he used to condemn the extreme nationalists is not hidden.After all, their ultimate goal was the same. If you are not supporting one’s ideology then its okay, but at least don’t criticize it in public. Ultimately, he helped British Government to declare our young nationalists, terrorists.

2) The political game he played when Subhash Chandra Bose was elected the president of INC for the second time, he asked all the other members to resign is very much there in 10th class history books. Using his political influence to manipulate others is an art of hypocrisy.

I think 2 examples are enough or you want more?

Anyways, I have nothing much to say. Some truths are better of hidden. This exactly is the case here.

Unfortunately the history we learn is mere propaganda. I am from Pune & I know for a fact that there is no record in Yerwada jail that Nathuram Godse threw a bomb on Gandhi. Nothing of that sort happened.

I am here again and just want to tell you, please don’t take it my personal opinion. I again specify CLEARLY, that this is not my view point and I am neither HAPPY or ANGRY(as you are) about it. Infact I HAVE NO VIEW POINT OF MY OWN AT THIS POINT ON THIS TOPIC.

The exact purpose of mine, posting it here was to show that a big historical event such as the death of the Mahatma, can be analyzed by different view points as well.

The most popular view is that we all know and is publicized every where. The other view, however wrt Gopal Godse is presented here. Now it is the readers to decide, whether they can fetch any authenticity in his view and change accordingly.

No doubt Gandhi was a great leader but he was not having the vision for modern India. You read the book “ Gandhivad ki Shav Priksha” or “Postmortism of Gandhism” written by Shiv Verma for detailed study of thoughts of Gandhi now called as Gandhism.

See if you believe in the western model of development and if you think that it is going to bring about prosperity without harming environment and human then it is fine. The Gandhian model of development was not the one which has been adopted now in India. There is a fundamental difference in what you believe and what Gandhiji suggested. Although even the Westeren countries are now turning to belive the other model now. You have a different defination of ”MODERN” than what I belive, what someone else may belive and what indeed Gandhi himself believed. So kindly say that I am disagree to Gandhian model of development but don’t say that he did not have a vision because your such statement shows that you lack some vision my friend!

Critically seeing it may be ok but projecting something like this dirty piece of interview I think is not so right. One thing I want to make clear that I can never deny the Gandhi’s contribution in arousing the masses for freedom struggle, his contribution in establishing communal harmony and struggle against the caste system. What I want to say that he was not having a scientific out look. As you are studying the Gandhian thought I hope you will definitely give me the information. The whole problem is with Muslim League.

They wanted to part away from India on lingustic and regional capacity. Gandhijee wished our brothers not to part away. The mood was different. There was heavy blood shed.

Gandhijee’s feelings were badly hurt. He observed fasting. Finally Gandhijee agreed half-heartedly for partition.

Let me have my personal opinion here.Still the Pakistan has been under the brunt of unstable power policies is and looming always in bad political climate.

It’s strange that huge section of Muslims tend to be swayed by separatist views of Jinnah and Sir Muhammad Iqbal - ” the Muslim belief that their interest must be regarded as completely separate from those of the Hindus, and that no fusion of the two communities was possible.”.Jinnah had little faith in Gandhi.

At a League conference in Lahore in 1940, Jinnah said :” Hindus and the Muslims belong to two different religions, philosophies, social customs and literature... New York Describing Pakistan as the centre of world terrorism, renowned author Salman Rushdie has slammed Islamabad for its ”cynical denial” that the terrorists involved in Mumbai attacks were not its nationals.

You are absolutely correct. In the present day context, Gandhijee’s idealisms are just spoken as a symbol of respect. These urbanisation and neglect of Gandhian Gram Sevak are all mere in papers and celebrations. The one word Gandhi felt about congress is quite different. Perhaps Mudita will continue to say some thing authentic about Gandhijee’s dreams on village development and care of Harijans and Tribals. They still remain in unknown places.

Anyone would be agree to me that it does mean that belonging to a particular city you know all it’s record? Have you gone and check in the Pune police record if his name is recorded for the attempt to kill Gandhi or not? I will write back with full references to this tomorrow and then kindly go to Pune and check for the records. An educated and learned per’s characteristic is that, that he/she does not say anything without having proper references to what he/she is ssaying. Can I say Krish does not belong to Pune? No, I cannot because I dont have any propoer information about the person! Be more careful next time while saying anything about anyone in this world.
